The 2021 Louisville Polar Plunge

Why would I want to jump into a pool measuring at 49 degrees, with an air temperatures of 48 degrees, at 9:30 am on a Saturday morning? I took the Polar Plunge to raise funds and support the Special Olympics in the State of Kentucky. Our “Don’t Drown the Crown Team” consisted of seven members, with both contestants and supporters, representing the Miss Kentucky Scholarship Organization and the Amerifest Pageant System, who all took the plunge with me on Saturday, February 27, 2021.

Raising funds through our social media pages, our “Don’t Drown the Crown” team had an amazing response from friends and family who wanted to help support us in our Polar Plunge. Together, our team raised $876 that will go towards funding for the Special Olympics in the State of Kentucky.

Why is the Polar Plunge so important? There are over 10,200 Special Olympics athletes located in the State of Kentucky, and every Polar Plunge donation goes towards providing opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities to train and compete in sports.

Through sports, Special Olympics athletes build confidence, self-esteem, and develop skills they can take off the field and into their everyday lives. Every $25 we raise helps provide a season of athletic competition for one Special Olympics athlete.”
